RainMonsoon is here, water is everywhere, but we are thirsty! Every day when we read newspapers we come across one or other news item regarding water problems.
We feel sorry for such areas with water problems and curse our Government; and then turn to other pages. Nepal, second in terms of water sources in the world, is longing for water. Isn’t it an irony?

Spread of cholera
CholeraNew cholera cases have been detected in Kathmandu Valley over the past one week. The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under the Department of Health has confirmed cholera in 21 people. But the actual number of infected, the division warns, could be many times more.

CholeraKATHMANDU: Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under Department of Health Services (DoHS) has sounded alarm about cholera outbreak in Kathmandu Valley with 21 people already testing positive for the disease.

Officials at the EDCD said that they have been struggling to halt the spread of the disease in Lalitpur and Kathmandu districts.

Urlabari (Morang): The flood-fed Teli Rivulet has blown away the drinking water supply pipes at Jante of Morang, keeping locals deprived of drinking water facility. The flood triggered by downpour swept away supply pipes of the drinking water project that has been in operation since 1982.

Pond KavreKAVRE: The villagers of Ugrachandi and Tukucha Nala in Kavre have launched a wetland conservation programme to address the drinking water shortage in the region.

The people of Ugrachandi VDC ward-7 and Tukucha Nala ward-7 and ward-8 have come together for the task of conserving the wetland in the areas by building what they call a recharge pond at Hile Jaljale (Kha) Community Forest to store rainwater for the dry season.
