Sanitation master plan approved Print E-mail

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population is all set to implement the National Hygiene and Sanitation Master Plan 2068 to improve hygiene and sanitation condition in the country.  The ministerial cabinet meeting held on August 4, 2011 has approved the master plan.

The ministry is implementing the master plan to operate hygiene and sanitation programme in an integrated way by developing all the Village Development Committees, municipalities and districts in the country as open defecation free zones.  Lack of sanitation and hygiene are the major causes of contagious diseases including diarrhoea, cholera, jaundice and typhoid. The government is implementing master plan to control such contagious diseases.
