Dhading: The dalit community residing across Maidi-3 Kotthok of Dhading district has collaborated to get water at their villages. As there is no water source near the village, the locals have to walk for an hour just to fetch a pot of water. The locals have united to offer voluntary labour for eradicating the menace of water shortage.

President of Maidi Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumer Committee Keshab Pariyar said that lack of water sources at the village had compelled the locals to travel a long way to fetch water. "Earlier, people living in ward number-3 traveled another ward to get one pot of water," he said.
However, the situation has changed now, thanks to the water project launched by Poverty Alleviation Fund that came into operation some two years ago. With an investment of Rs. 3.5 million, the project will facilitate all the locals. Under the project, water of Pucharidhara, Ukhubari will be taken out through a lift system and then will be collected at a tank situated at Kotthok. The water collected inside the tank will be provided to the locals.
