Salyan: Locals of Kupindedaha and Nigalchula in Salyan have initiated a campaign to collect rainwater as an alternative source of drinking water due to acute shortage of water. The compulsion to walk five hours distance a day to fetch drinking water has been ended with the feasibility of collecting rainwater as an alternative source through the use of bio-gas, locals said.

At the moment, 40 households and students of two local schools have put in place the campaign to collect rainwater as a reliable source of drinking water. Under the campaign, the construction of 40 wells for community people and three wells for two schools and a sub health post has been in the final stage. Programme coordinator of the organization Kalpana Sejwal said, “There is big crisis of drinking water in Kupindedaha and Nigalchula and the new alternative is adopted to manage drinking water.”
