Bhaktapur: The residents of Madhyapur Thimi municipality demanded improvement in drinking water supply system in a meeting organized by Lyayamha Pucha Thimi. Organization of the meeting was assisted by Lumanti Support Group for Shelter to increase citizen's concerns on drinking water and sanitation in the municipality.

The locals also suggested Nepal Water Supply Corporation to improve its supply system by controlling leakages and supplying water in the days having no electricity load shedding.
Former deputy CEO of municipality, Chandan Krishna Shrestha stressed that all the people should have easy access to drinking water. He expressed dissatisfaction over no legal action against the drinking water polluters like the sand processing units in Bode.
Chief of NWSC Madhyapur Thimi Branch, Umesh Babu Marhatta told that the corporation will improve drinking water supply system. He told that there was an agreement to stop sand processing from the river water which is also used for drinking water by treatment at Bode. Director of Lumanti, Lajana Manandhar told that the programme was organized with an objective of policy change. Speakers including Rabin Lal Shrestha of WaterAid Nepal, June Shrestha of Lyayamha Pucha and Naresh Shrestha expressed their views in the programme.
