Waste of Zoo in packets Print E-mail

Kathmandu: The garbage and animal waste produced in the Central Zoo, Kathmandu is available in packets nowadays. An organization named Nepal Pollution Control and Environment Management Centre (NEPCEMAC) has made compost fertilizer from the garbage produced in the zoo.

Devi Prasad Acharya, chairman of NEPCEMAC told that 9 ton garbage is produced in the zoo monthly. Processing and packing of the garbage as compost is done by a company named Environ-Initiative at Samakhusi. "We have been operating Fertilizer Processing Centre by paying tax to the government though this activity is helping to clean the environment," said Nabin Bikash Maharjan, owner of the company. The fertilizer packets of the company is available in the market in 1, 5 and 25 Kg at Rs. 20 per kg.
