Kavre: The locals of Naya Basti have urged the Banepa Municipality not to construct the Sewerage Treatment Plant in the middle of the settlement. Stating that foul smell will spread in the settlement from the plant, over 123 residents of the settlement have submitted opposition letter to the municipality.

The locals have blamed the municipality that it has bought land to construct the plant without consulting them. The locals met with the chief executive officer of Banepa Municipality Ganesh Prasad Bhattarai and Project Manager Navraj Pyakurel to oppose the construction works in their settlement area. The locals also warned that they will stage agitation against the municipality if it goes on with the construction of the treatment plant. CEO Bhattarai urged the locals not to return the assistance provided by the ADB and assured that the municipality will work only in coordination of the locals.
