Strategy to be made to prevent contagious diseases Print E-mail

ImageLalitpur: Joint secretary at the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works Suman Sharma told that the government is making strategy to prevent contagious diseases like diarrhoea and cholera next year. Speaking at a programme organized to felicitate the volunteers of Cholera Mitigation Campaign, he told that the government will launch different public awareness campaign on safe drinking water, hygienic food and personal hygiene to prevent contagious diseases like diarrhoea and cholera in the coming days.

A total of 250 volunteers were involved in creating awareness, chlorine distribution and applying chlorine in five municipalities of the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding VDCs.
Chairman of Guthi Sanjeev Manandhar told that such awareness campaign should be operated in other parts of the country. Sanitation expert of UNICEF Nepal Namaste Lal Shrestha told that children are more affected by the contagious diseases caused by lack of drinking water and sanitation in the developing countries like Nepal. He added that ‘Cholera Mitigation Campaign’ was effective to aware people about the importance of safe drinking water and personal hygiene.
National coordinator of UNICEF Sanitation Improvement Project Anita Maskey and director of Guthi Anil Sthapit also expressed their views in the programme.
