Kathmandu: Ministry of Health, UN-HABITAT Water for Asian Cities Programme and Environment Conservation Camp (ECCA) have selected 10 schools of the Kathmandu Valley for piloting the Human Value Based Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education (HVWSHE) programme. Based on the outcome of the pilot testing, the government will gradually adopt the education in the school curriculum.

“We have launched the programme to change in behaviour, personal attitudes and understand the values of water and sanitation through integration of HVWSHE in school curriculum,” said Dr. Roshan Raj Shrestha, Chief Technical Advisor of UN-HABITAT South Asia Region, adding, “The country would have to suffer from water problem, if we do not provide information about water and sanitation to the new generation.”

Staffs from Curriculum Development Centre (CDC), National Centre for Educational Development (NCED) and teachers from different schools in Kathmandu Valley participated in the orientation programme organized on 22nd and 23rd December in Lalitpur.
