Nawalparasi: It has been three month since there has been no water supply from the taps of the consumers of Kawasoti Drinking Water Project that was completed last year at an investment of Rs. 100 million. The consumers blamed of irregularity in project construction by the then Kawasoti Drinking Water Consumers Committee and Small Town and Drinking Water Project Central Office.
The consumers have demanded to investigate the financial irregularity in the project. Constituent Assembly member from Kawasoti Mahendra Dhwoj Jisi told that there was no water supply from the taps within three months of the hand over of the project to the consumers committee which has proved that there is extreme financial irregularity in the project construction. He demanded of forming a high-level investigation commission to investigate financial irregularity in the project. The project had stated that there will be 24-hour water supply for next 15 years after the completion of the project. The consumers are sad as the project could not supply water in the first year itself. The project has already distributed 2600 pipeline connections. Source: Kantipur, May 20, 2009 |
