Khotang: A costly drinking water project has been in limbo for years, causing inconvenience to thousands of consumers. Asian Development Bank had constructed the Tapkhola Drinking Water Project at the cost of Rs. 10 million some 15 years ago but the project’s water canal collapsed within few days of operation.
Consumers say the negligence of the contractor and technicians caused the failure of the water project that has 46 taps, 4 big tanks and 15 small tanks. On the other hand, Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, Khotang, says the project is inoperable as consumers are inactive. Source: The Kathmandu Post, February 4, 2010 |
