Profile - Mountain Resources Management Group (MRMG)

The Mountain Resources Management Group (MRMG) is a national, non-political, secular and independent non-governmental organization, established in 1993 with the aim of bringing about sustainable development of the rural communities of Nepal by mobilising indigenous human and natural resources and using local technologies. It is registered with the District Administration Office in Kathmandu, Ministry of Home Affairs under Association Registration Act, 1997 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council under Social Welfare Act.


MRMG aims to work for sustainable development of the poorest of the poor among rural communities
in Nepal.


  • To alleviate poverty among the rural communities of Nepal
  • To support sustainable community development by building communal resources and by strengthening the capacity of local institutions
  • To raise awareness towards health and sanitation issues among rural communities
  • To establish ecological balance by preventing environmental degradation
  • To promote gender equity in all aspects of development
  • To implement action research projects and evaluate them for replication to other areas
  • To strengthen the capacity of local institutions in order to ensure sustainable development
  • To promote those political systems which provide opportunities for all, including the poor, disadvantaged and civil societies, and influence state policies and practices ensuring good governance.
