About 200 water sources in Kavre go dry

Timal-KavreBanepa (Kavrepalanchowk): With the beginning of the summer season, people here are facing severe shortage of drinking water in the district. The water sources have gone dry resulting in shortage of water supply at various places across the district. Meanwhile, locals in the district also are forced to find out the alternatives.

The office of the Drinking Water and Sanitation was planning to avail the water from alternative source; however, the office is yet to carry out concrete plan in this regard. The office sources said that it was planning to collect the rain water and supply to the villagers.

About 200 sources of water have dried up at the settlement in Chandenimandan, Timal and the VDCs across the Kosi River and people are facing difficulties to meet their daily drinking water needs. Similarly, the water volume has decreased at 417 sources while there is no alternative source at 181 places, the Water Supply Division Office, Dhulikhel stated.
